We lost, but it was wonderful.

K-State came to Phoenix for the Fiesta Bowl last night. Mike bought me the ridiculously overpriced tickets as my Christmas gift and we went happily skipping along on our date, giddy for different reasons. I love K-State and they've done really well this season and Bill Snyder is back and they were HERE in PHOENIX and with so many people dressed in purple all in one building...are you KIDDING me? I was so excited. Mike loves all things college football and hasn't been to a game since the last time K-State was here, which was 8-10 years ago. We can't figure out why he hasn't been to an ASU game this whole time. I blame kids and having a family.

I digress.

Mike took a half day off work, we tailgated briefly, I was among my purple people and it was wonderful. I sang the fight song with the band, we chanted, we high fived strangers, we ate $4 churros.

Then we lost. Badly. But we had so, so much fun. And the last groggy words out of my husband's mouth as he drifted off to sleep last night were a mumbled, "Thanks for going to the game with me, honey..." HA!  He thought this was for him!?  :)
There were free chips and salsa on our chair when we arrived (the ridiculously salty chips caused us to break down and buy a $5 bottle of water - I cursed myself for not running into a convenience store on the way!)
This was not the view from our seats...
...THIS was the view from our seats. The place was packed with people who paid $300-600 to get a decent view. We sat in the "cheap" $130 seats. Well, seat. Times two. Yikes.
Was it worth it? Oh. Yes. So much cheaper than flying to KC, driving two hours to Manhattan, staying in a hotel, blah blah blah. We took advantage of them coming to US. I love me some Wildcats football!!!

Years ago, my brother was the asst. baseball coach at KS, so I was rooting for them too. So far, none of my family affiliated teams have done well this bowl season.

Good thing I'm not a real fan...

What a great day out! And I agree with the grocery-store trip beforehand, but those can be dangerous, too. I treated myself to a movie the other night, and decided to get goodies at the grocery store on the way in. For what I would have paid for a box of popcorn, I bought candy, chocolate, crackers, AND a drink. !!!!!! No, I didn't consume everything, but a heck of a lot more than if I would have paid $5 for any of it!

Guess it just proves, having fun costs you, whether money or calories. If only there was some form of evening entertainment that was both free AND calorie-burning. Hmmmmmmmm....... ;-)
