Mommy & Me Special Date {taking Kaylin to see ANNIE}

Is there anything more appropriate for a special date with a 6-year old red head than to go see a production of Annie?

Last week, Kaylin and I went out for a girls night.  I remember seeing Annie in the movie theater when I was about her age, so it was meaningful on many different levels.
We began by getting all dolled up, complete with curled hair, make up (even for her) and fancy clothes. We each carried small handbags (she borrowed one of mine, which she loved) and bundled up in coats and scarves. It reminded me of seeing the Nutcracker as a kid in Kansas City, where it was always freezing in December.
Kaylin sat with her arms propped up on the railing during the whole first half of the show. She glanced back at me with a laugh after the funny lines and sang along when she could pick up the chorus. At intermission, we ordered dessert and cocoa.
Whenever we took a bathroom break, Kaylin was the center of attention with the older crowd: "Are you Annie?" or "Wow, you could be up there on stage with that beautiful hair!" or simply, "Don't you look lovely, little girl!!!" She felt like a star and spent the whole night beaming with pride.

As we left the theatre (at 10:05pm!!!) it was drizzling, which just added to the magic of the evening. This is one of my favorite mommy memories to date, second only to taking Kaylin for tea and when she had her first official pedicure.

I just love having a girlie girl.

Not one mention of your sweet friend who got you such a GREAT deal on the tickets or her DAUGHTER who rocked onstage as an orphan!

:( That's okay...I'm not feeling jilted or anything. LOL

Glad you guys enjoyed it! ;)
